Is it better to go to college before you join the marines?
Im 13 and when I get older I want to go to the us marines . I want get in ROTC for a scholarship , but I have been thinking should I go to college before I go to the marines to farther my pos. in the marines or just go to the marines straight out of high school. I defintly know that I'm going either way but I don't know which prosses I should go through first .

I am 13 also... and I intend to join the us army . I haven't decided if I'm going to join jrotc in high school to further MY expected education of basic knowledge of military basics by my recruiters . THey Look for this in young scholars because its less stuff they have to teach and prepare you with in rotc , or bct. As well this would further prepare you for bct or ait... as far as the mental preparation but the adrenaline and basic marine knowledge . College would also better prepare you . <----- that is my advice and also my unsureness as where what I'm going to do .

Im thinking if you decide to go to jrotc (junior ROTC) in high school, you can use that knowledge not just in rotc but in your ait for your MOS.

ROTC is just if you intend to become a commishioned officer . It offers you a degree of your choice , based on your MOS . Also , it provides you with the nessasary training .

If your plan is just to enlist as a GI then it would be obvious just to either join strait out of high school or either after college.

So your question is If you should go strait out of high school or go to college first . My answer has two scenareios . The first scenerio is if you intend to become a commishioned offiser , offering you two choices .

    1. Join ROTC after high school at the college of your choice . This provides you with the nessasarry training and also allows you to study a degree based on your chosen MOS .
( ROTC requires you to get a bachelors degree in the one you study , to pass . )
    2. Go to college first to get your degree based upon your chosen MOS and then sign up for OCS ( OFFICER CANIDATE SCHOOL )
