    I'm freezing! Please help!!
I have a Trane heat pump model WCH024C100A and a Honeywell non-programmable digital thermostat TH5220D1003 . The air conditioning works great. In cold weather it sounds like the fan is always running. I hear the heat kick on but then it immediately turns off. It happens over and over. Fan always running, heat engages, sounds like it is coming on then shuts off without running. The house will warm up but I'm afraid the motor will burn itself up and I'll have no heat. Also, the electric bill is reasonable in the warm weather months but triples in cold weather months. Any suggestions about things I can check? A coworker suggested the thermostat is wired wrong.

Do you get good constant heat if you turn it to emergancy heat?

Thanks for your reply. I need to restate my heat pump problem. No problems in warm weather with the a/c. The fan outside works when the system is set to a/c.
When you turn on the heat the outside fan kicks on and immediately turns off. This happens over and over the whole time the heat is on.
    So I've got
    Heat/on, fan/auto, no fan
    Heat/on, fan/on, no fan
    Emergency heat/on, no fan
It sounds like there is a fan running inside the house behind the furnace filter and a little air blows out of the vents. The house will heat to the temp the thermostat temp. is. The heat bill are triple what the a/c is.

I'm sorry! I've done such a lousy job describing the problem that I think I'd better just start over again.
