It is not common but it can happen. Generally with partial hysterectomies you are still considered infertile.

I don't want to sound rude... but your answer is not ENTIRELY correct. If you have a PARTIAL Hysterectomy, you ARE still fertile. You are NOT sterile. A PARTIAL Hysterectomy means that you had your Uterus, Cervix, and in some cases, only ONE of your Ovaries and/or Fallopian Tubes Removed. If you have a TOTAL/COMPLETE Hysterectomy, than you would be considered sterile, because a TOTAL/COMPLETE Hysterectomy involves the removal of your Uterus, Cervix, and BOTH of your Ovaries and Fallopian Tubes.

Now, to answer the question of being able to get pregnant Post-Partial Hysterectomy, it IS possible, but VERY rare. The Pregnancy is EXTREMELY dangerous, and CAN be Life Threatening. The reason that it can be Life Threatening and SO Dangerous, is because the Fertilized Egg either attaches to the INSIDE or OUTSIDE of your Fallopian Tube, to your Abdominal Wall, or to another Abdominal Organ. A Fertilized Egg that has attached to your Fallopian Tube, is called a "Tubal or Ectopic Pregnancy", and if not caught soon enough, it can cause your Fallopian Tube to RUPTURE, causing Massive Internal Bleeding, and often, Death. Trust me, I personally know how scary it is to have a Tubal Pregnancy, as I have had 2 of them!! I was lucky though, and had surgery before Rupture or Twisting occurred.

If you suspect that you are Pregnant after having a Partial Hysterectomy or Tubal Ligation (Had your Tubes "Tied"), it is IMPERATIVE that you seek Emergency Care IMMEDIATELY!! Do NOT wait until the next day to go to your Primary Care Physicians office. Go IMMEDIATELY to the CLOSEST Emergency Room! You May likely end up needing to have surgery if you do indeed have a Tubal or Ectopic Pregnancy. However, roughly 8 times out of 10, it is NOT a Tubal or Ectopic Pregnancy, but a Tumor or Cyst(s) on your Ovary.
