Hi, would love to track down a movie I watched in the 80's, but was made in the 50's or 60's. Plot is set in Europe during World War II about a middle-aged guy driving through war time Europe back to Britain and picking up various children along the way after he's asked to help them to escape back to England. All I can remember is he is driving a big old fashioned open-top car, and he has a woman passenger who he dislikes at first but ends up falling in love with, as well as an increasing number of kids he picks up. It was family film, very much in the style of a Cary Grant adventure/comedy, but I'm sure the actor wasn't Cary Grant.

Any ideas please?
