    New Install slow Tub drain
I just remodeled my upstairs bathroom, I installed a new whirlpool tub, the drain that came with it is only 1 1/4 " and it drains very slow. I replaced all my drain lines down to the basement and everything else works great. But what I did do is put the tub trap in the floor. It was a 2" trap could this be my problem could it be air locking on me. When turn the drain open you will get bubbles some times. I have tried everything and can't get it to run any faster. Help!!

Does your tub have a chrome overflow plate located just under the spout? Back to you. Tom

Kip, my father and I own a plumbing business. I can tell you that normally on whirlpool tubs, we use a 2" trap in the floor and then reduce to 1 1/2" pvc pipe. I'm not sure how much difference an 1 1/4" drain would make, but we never have any issues with 1 1/2".

Since the tub does have an overflow installed that should prevent air lock. My only other question would be was the drain line properly vented through the roof within a few feet of your whirlpool tub. Hope this info helps.
