My bathroom is so small that your knees hit the side of the tub when you are sitting on the toilet. I'm doing a remodel. I need an honest opinion of the new wall-hung toilets. There is so little info out there on them. This is a terrific thing you are doing, by the way. Thank you.

Wall hung toilets are great! They must be installed by a qualified plumber for the best result, but these systems are very reliable.

The only reason every home doesn't put one in today is because wall hung toilets and the carrier systems needed for them can be expensive, but you asked if they were good so, yeah, I think they're great!

Thanks. I have been looking at them for over a year now. Considering the ease of cleaning and my space problem, I have really wanted one and am willing to pay the cost of the carrier. Is there any particular brand you would recommend?

The reason I asked this question is that they either do not rate well on the MAP tests or are not rated there at all.

I recommend the TOTO wall hung toilets. In my opinion, for the buck, the TOTOs are best at removing all waste and waste water in a single flush!

We install Geberit wall hung toilets for years. In fact, I have 2 in my own house and just love it. It protrudes only 16" away from the wall.

There are many manufacturers who make wall hung toilets. But Geberit frame / Duravit bowls are the most well-known. We almost exclusively use Duravit Stark II bowls. Stark line comes in several very expensive models, but one particular model - almost indistinguishable from the expensive ones - runs a about $270.00. Duravit Starck 3 Wall Mounted Toilet - D19048 | Every Faucet .

Few things to remember:
1. you need 2x6 wall to accept the frame
2. you have to buy dedicated toilet seat. (Best is to buy it at the same time with the toilet. Cost: about $100.00 )

You guys are just terrific.

Milo - The Duravit Starck is what I wanted, but was getting cold feet because I didn't know anyone who knew anything about it. Geberit now has a 2X4 wall model for US market, but I bet it requires a <I>real</I> 2X4 inches and not the nominal 2X4".
I still plan to sit down with the plumber again before I buy anything just to make sure that any plumbing issues will not prevent what I want to do.

Photos? I'll try, but this is a 66" X 82" bathroom! Strange how it seems like more work to design this than it did to do the 12 X 20 kitchen...
