Can pullchain/pullcord be added to a remote only ceiling fan?
I have two remote only ceiling fans (harbor breeze) with dead receivers (I opened them to find various components scorched and fused). Is it possible to add pull chains? I tried unsuccessfully to wire one of the fans to a three speed ceiling fan wall switch. The fan worked, but defaulted to the lowest speed, so the dimmer switch cause the fan to go from slow to ultra slow. I have already replaced the fans (new fans were cheaper than replacement receivers) and now I'm just trying to find a way to keep the old ones out of a landfill. If no modification is possible, is there any salvage value to the fans?

Depends on the wiring pattern for the fan and lights. The big problem is finding a place for the pull chains to mount. The salvage value is in the motors and any brass that might be in the case and bracket, most recycle places will give you 10-20 cents/lb for the motors and brass brings $1.80/lb or so. .
