New house with Wet dog smell
We just bought a house and the previous owners had a large black lab. Throughout the house it smells like wet dog hair. It seems to be on all the baseboards, window sills, cabinets. It's gross. How and What can I use to get rid of it?

There are some great store bought products that remove pet odors, anything that says "enzyme based" is a winner. The enzymes in these cleaners don't mask they smell, they actually neutralise it.

Vinegar and water is a cheaper alternative that can work in a similar fashion. Although sometimes the vinegar smell can be just as bad as the wet dog but it does disappear after a few days.

White vinegar is amazing for cleaning and getting rid of the smell. I use a spray bottle and then wipe it down. This should work and the vinegar smell will go away soon. No one ever says my house smells of cat and dog (we have one of each and three kids).

I would agree with the enzyme treatment. Natures Miracle works well for us and you can spray it. I use it on dog accidents after a quick Rug Doctor treatment and the enzyme appears to "eat" the remian material and odor.
