The other day, I was downstairs watching TV, I went upstairs after about 20 minutes to check on my daughter (4) and my son (5). I walked into my daughters room, horrified to see my son lead on top of my daughter with his penis in her mouth. I asked them both what they were doing and my daughter replied " We're playing a game mummy!" I told them both to quickly get their clothes back on and I sat them down for a little chat. First of all I asked them if there was anything else they had being doing in their "game", my son said " Yes, Kirsty licked my willy and it felt good and i touched her fanny and she said that felt nice too, and I sat on Kirsty's bum when she was led down and she told me to rub my willy on her bum because it tickled" I was in shock but I calmy told them that that was wrong and only older people do that because it is dangerous for little people and you never touch somebody else's "special places" Then I said to them that they weren't in trouble because they didn't know that they shouldn't do it but they do now so if they do it again then they will be in trouble. But if they wanted to touch their own special places then they could but only in their own bedroom when they are alone. They have never done something like that again, but they do touch their own "special places" from time to time, but to them it isn't masturbating it's just "tickling themselves" and feels calm and relaxing to do. Do you think I handelled the situation well or there was something I could have done better. Constructive criticism is by all means accepted.

My main worry is where they have seen or knew what to do, has another adult been showing or doing somehting with them, for them to even know this.

Sure kids are curious, but there's something abnormal about them trying too much. Most kids only mock what they've seen or experienced.

While I think that you handled it well, and put a stop to essentially the sexual acts the two of them were doing to each other, there is something very, very wrong with this situation.

To be able to explain, define, offer examples, and with such detail and seemingly comfortable familiarity with all the sexual activity, is a big red flag in my opinion. You walked into a room where a five year old and a four year old were doing oral sex for God's sake.

To me, my opinion is, this is not 'normal' sexual inquisitiveness or exploration. It is not age appropriate. These are acts that they have either seen others doing, or they have been coached, or they themselves have been sexually abused.

I have never heard of four and five year olds being experienced and engaging in sexual acts with each other, unless they are exposed to it, in some way.

Do they go to a babysitter, are you a single parent and your children have visitation with your ex, do they spend time alone with any male person such as an uncle, grandparent, are there older siblings or step siblings, neighbours.

What or who is in their lives that could have influenced and taught them what they know.

While you may have put a stop to this in your own home, under your own supervision, you have only begun to find out what the hel* is going on here.

I wouldn't just limit it (the possible abusers) to the males, there are plenty of females guilty of this as well... just in lower numbers. You have to keep your eyes open.
