    Painful urination and burning vagina.
Hi I had unprotected sex a little over a week ago, now I have pain when urinating and a burning sensation periodically throughout the day. I heard it could either be a urinary tract infection, or a yeast infection. I recently tried some yeast infection cream and it seems to soothe some of the burning. Any other ideas of what this could be?

Although painful urination is most often associated with an UTI, best to have your doctor check things out as the two situations would be treated differently. There is also the possibility that you have both going on and of course you would want to rule out a STD.

It does indeed sound like a UTI. You can increase your water intake, add 100% cranberry juice frequently through the day until you can get in to see your doctor.

There is also an over the counter medication you can take called UriStat which will help control pain from a urinary tract infection.

And all of that until you can see your doctor, remember if it is some of the STD, the pain may go away but the STD is doing more harm.

So in any case, get to the doctor

Since the OP posted this almost a month ago, I hope she's seen a doctor already.
