    My tank is over stocked
I have a 30 gallon tank that is home to about 10-15 plattys, 10 guppies, an angelfish, a pleco, and a male and female betta. Now before I get yelled at for all these fish living together, they get along great, and there's never been nipped fins or fights. But I know my tank is way over stocked, and I still have 30 guppy fry in a tank getting ready to be released with the adults. What size of tank would you recommend? Chances are the angel fish will be getting her own tank within a month or so...

So did you move the gold fish that were in the 30 gal, or do you have two 30 gal tanks and the one 10 gal that the angel fish are in? Because you could always put the two angel fish in one 30gal and move some of the platty's and guppies into the other 30 gal. Maybe try and separate the males from the females if they all get along fine together.

All the fish mentioned are small other than the pleco and angel. How large is the pleco? What kind of filter are you using? I always had plecos and always had to get rid of them at 12 to 16 ". You don't need them unless you enjoy them. But they require long tanks like 55 gal.

I also overstock tanks and ponds, however if you over filter and keep up cleaning and water changes regularly the fish will be healthy. It is easier, if you have the room and money, to get a larger tank.
P.S. The angel and the goldfish will eat all fish that fit in their mouths. Watch your guppies.

    My tanks are:
30 gallon- Guppys, pleco, angel, and platys
30 gallon- 4 large goldfish, 4 large fantail goldfish, 2 dojo loaches
10 gallon- plenty of guppy fry (this was the angels previous home)

My pleco is only about 4 inches.. My filter is a whisper (I think it's for a bigger tank than what I have now, but the previous people had goldfish in it, so the larger filter kept up with the bioload) with this many fish what's your reccomendation on water changes, I like the look of my tank and all the fish in it.. So if I could I'd like to keep them the way they are..

The only tank that's over crowded is the goldfish. Whisper filters came either numbered 1-4 or lettred A-D, 4 and D being the largest.Change 10 % of water weekly, Clean the filter once a month, replacing the charcoal or bag not both. Rinse off the one item you will use again and in some tank water not sink water as this will kill all your good bacteria. Also, test your ph and ammonia levels quite often. My guess is the ph on the dirty tank was very low, about 6.0 or lower, not bad for the angel. The rest would prefer a higher ph, around 7.0.
A 4" pleco is still small, but you'll blink and he'll be big.

What happened to the angel fish then? You have another thread about the angel fish being attacked and her fins eaten off.

It sounds like they don't get along as well as you think.

Everyone seems to be getting this all confused so...

It was the angelfish, goldfish, and dojos in one tank. The angel got eaten so I places her in with my guppys, bettas, plattys, and pleco.
The angel fish WAS attacked by the goldfish in the goldfish tank! There are two separate 30 gallon tank. One is mine, one is my moms. The particular one in this thread is mine. And the goldfish tank is my moms.

We keep getting confused because with every new thread there is a new tank with new fish living in it. We can only go by what you tell us.

We have a 30 gallon aquarium that my mom had goldfish in, and we had an angelfish in a 10 gallon. About 3 months ago my mom put the angel with the goldfish, and today we notices the angel fish was attacked and most her fins are gone,
it seemed as if you only had two tanks. So thanks for clearing that up.
