    Do I have to be charged to be convicted?
    I had 5 charges against me.4 were dropped but I was convicted
    Of 1. I was never formally charged . Was this allowed?

    I don't know what formality you expected, but it happened. The best you can hope for is an arraignment. That's where the charges were read to you.

    Agreed, what did you want,

    Normally this happens at the first appearance, which most people waive and go on to bail.

    But if you were not charged, you would not have went to court, And they can't drop anything that has not already been charged.

    So when you were "charged" that was all there was

    Comment on Fr_Chuck's post
    4 charges were dropped the remaining 1 I was told I had 2 plead guilty 2. I was never formally charged with it and have since been told it should never have gone through court. I have just done 1 year out of 2 even the screws said it was wrong.
