From what I can remember as a kid when I saw this film, is that a family take of in a ww2 bomber plane only to crash
Land later on,near or on an island, they turn the plane fusalage into a boat to escape. There's also a japanese solder on this island and I think the ww2 bomber plane is a B29 super fortress ?
