    A dog won't eat for a few reasons. Very rare for a dog to have liver failure but here are some symptoms

    * Nausea
    * Loss of appetite
    * Fatigue
    * Diarrhea

    Maybe not as easy to detect in an animal as a human. Liver failure in a human is characterizes as severe jaundice.

    What makes you think your dog has liver failure ?

    She had a scan today and I was advised that the enzymes were elevated and that her liver and spleen were enlarged. She too has a "suspect" blurring on one of her verterbra (as seen on the x-ray) and they have taken biopsies. If she has cancer, surely this won't affect her eating? She is lethargic and won't eat. She is currently in ICU and we will get the result of the biopsies tomorrow but I am very worried.

    I am so sorry. Is she older, a large breed dog... It doesn't take much to put them off their food. My poor old soul who just passed away at l4, was enemic. I would never have thought she would go from this and it must have been genetic with her. She lost her appetite so was on prednisone and once they are on that, they can't go off it. But it did start her eating moderately again.
