My dog has been licking his anal area a lot lately, but we just thought it would pass. Then, today he started having accidents inside the house that seemed slimy in substance. He doesn't seem to be in pain or lethargic in anyway- and no foul odors of any kind. He is a 10 month old male golden retriever. Any suggestions?

It could be his anal glands... does the fluid smell really strong and really bad?

Every time a dog defecates it realses a small amount of fluid from glands just inside the anus. If the feces is too soft, or the dogs glands are blocked the fluid can build up and become infected.
It is easily fixed, your vet can express the glands and basically squeeze out the fluid and if there is an infection, put the dog on a course of antibiotics.
