1994 Civic DX Won't start
Hopefully I provide enough information. I'm really new to this whole car thing. I have a 1994 Honda Civic DX that has been sitting for about six months. I replaced the battery and it started right up screaming and smoking near a belt. We turned it off to take a look. Started it up again but it start reving on its own so we turned it off again. When we tried to start it once more it would not start just cranks. We tried gas cleaner but nothing. I've been doing a lot of reading on here so here goes. When I turn the key to position to the CEL comes on then goes off after 2 seconds, the fuel pump also comes on then off, and I can also here the main relay. We can smell gas from the exhaust when cranked. I tried to test the ECM using the wire since I could not locate a red light on the ECM, only to get the same result as everyone else. All the lights stay on except the SRS which just blinks constantly with no pattern. I bought a new distributer cap and what I believe is called a rotor button. But can't remove the old rotor button because of all the rust, so it's been sitting with penetrating oil on it. I haven't been able to test for a spark the correct way. My dad just shoved something metal into the spark plug wire and we got nothing. Hopefully today I can test for a spark, the ignition coil and igniter unit. Any additional info would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!
