    laminate floor help?
We want to lay a laminate wood floor with a 4x6 insert of ceramic tile at the front door entry. Can you just lay the laminate up to the ceramic tile? What will hole the laminate in place? This is beind done over a concrete floor so we can't nail the floor down. Please help.

My laminate floor is called a 'floating floor' each piece 'clicks' in place. Didn't have to be nailed down. Therefore you are safe in butting it up to the ceramic tile. You will, however, need a moisture barrier down on top of the cement and this is usually recommended where you purchase the laminate flooring.

One hint though for cleaning. Laminate flooring can't take anything but a very very damp mop.

Beside the vapor barrier make sure you also use a padding. You will need to cover up the floor edge at the base trim. Leave a 1/4 cap to the existing trim boards and over with a 1/4 round. Then use a transition from the new floor to the existing. Also you can see my video on how to install a laminate floor. http://askmediy.com/categories/laminate-flooring.html
