I installed a new ignitor on my gas dryer. Once the dryer was started there was an arc and the breaker tripped. Once the breaker was reset I took the dryer apart the ignitor was in pieces.I don't know what happened

It sounds like, but this is just a educated guess, the ignitor may have been touching up against the sheetmetal and it arced out. Yes, those ignitors shatter. Hope this helps,
