Hey peeps,

Looking for a movie I had when I was a kid I assume it was an 80s movie perhaps very early 90s, Its about a guy who finds possibly rescues some sort of goblin creature, the scene I can describe to you best is this one:

They are both in an open top car and the guy makes a promise to the goblin, the goblin then says something like "spit on your word" so the guy spits on his hand and holds it out to shake the goblins hand, then the goblin snorts and brings up this massive pile of mucus in his hand and you can imagine the guys face when they shake hands.

The guy helps the goblin/gremlin creature throughout the movie, I can't remember what he is looking for perhaps some sort of stone.

The guy could have been a police officer or maybe I imagined that part, any help would be much appreciated.

I tried to Google "spit on your word" and things similar but got no results.
