We just installed a new 3 handle tub faucet about 1 year ago. Now you can't turn on the cold water or the shower knob because it is very hard to turn. What could be causing this and how do we fix it?

Shut the water to the tub, remove the packing nuts and the stems clean lubricate and reassemble see the image below, good luck.

Your packing has swelled making the stem difficult to turn. A easier method would be to simply remove the handle and chrome cover and then slip the handle back on and start to back the packing nut out counterclockwise until the stem turns easy. CAREFUL!~! Don't back it out to far as the stem will leak when turned on. Good luck, n Tom
