My 2 1/2 year old won't sleep by himself at night. Either I sleep with him or the cat or dog do. He just started doing this and he has always been a really good sleeper. He is not taking naps either and He gets very cranky in the afternoon. Does anyone have any advice on what to do? Thank you

What happens if he falls asleep and you then leave his room?
Have you tried napping during the day for an hour and seeing if this improves the night/evening sleep?

Our daughter is 2.5yrs too, she recently started crying just before going to bed and woud cry for 20-40mins before falling asleep. In the end we followed some advice from the 'supernanny' website. Basically we put her to bed, tell her a story about what she done that day and how good she was etc - then we stand up and say we are going to put the light off and then come sit back next to her. We sit on the floor next to her bed, facing away. It then gives the her feeling that we are still close to her and its safe to go to sleep. Within 2-3 minutes she is asleep and we can leave the room.

Maybe try that?
