I have an uncle that I took into my house to give him time to get on his feet so he could pay back my dad money he owes my dad from years back. I was trying to restore family peace, and have been drawn into a firestorm. I gave him notice that he had six months to leave two years ago. He told me he borrowed money from "thugs" and they have threatened me and my family if my uncle does not stay here and make the money to pay them back.
I have not seen "thugs", or my uncle make any money for two years. I don't know how to get him out of my house legally. He does not have anything but a room in my house, but cooks in my kitchen, and uses a hall bathroom. We do not speak, at all. The stress is causing problems in my marriage, and with my child. What do you suggest? Do I slide a notice under the door, and then call the sheriff to evict at the end of the 30 days? Please help.

You give him notice to leave, then if he does not, you have to file in court for an eviction. ( you can't call the sheriff to evict just on your notice) if he does not move on your notice, you file in court, there is a hearing, and then a final date for him to be out is given by the judge, if not out on that date, the court officer comes and allows you to sit his belongings out of the house.
