I haven't talked to my dad in two years now, he doesn't want anything to do with me. He hasn't tried to contact me do I leave his name off the invites and just put my mothers? And can my mother walk me down the isle without people thinking it is weird?

That question could have been mine, 35 years ago.

    Exactly the same situation.

What I did was decide, not to invite him. My mother was uncomfortable taking the roll of walking me down the aisle. What I did was, I walked myself down the aisle!

Directly behind me were my about to be, in-laws, one on either side of my mom, and they were all absolutely beaming. The three of them together, all walking behind me, with the sound of a piper in the galley, was so beautiful and emotional. My soon to be husband was already at the alter, and when I joined him, my gracious father in law saw my mother to her seat, and then he, and my (almost) mother in law, sat in their seats.

When I think back to that moment in time, it is a decision that I am so happy I made. No false emotion, no awkwardess, nobody was uncomfortable. It was a joyous event for everybody.

I hope that you might consider what I did, and if you do, I don't think you'll ever regret it.

I think if your mother wants to walk you down the isle, that is fine. It's your wedding

Most people at the wedding ( at least your side of the family normally knows what is going on with you and your father anyway)

But I am old school I guess, you invite him and allow him just not to show up,

Out of most of the weddings I do, the "giving away the bride" is not even done in most of them, but in cases where it is, it has always been a male family member, from a older son, a uncle
