We just moved and were under the impression that we would get our deposit back. The landlord informed us after multiple emails back and forth that they would be taking a per diem charge from our deposit due to the lack of 30 day notice. They have new renters moving in on the 20th of November and we moved out on the 1st but rent is due by the 10th. Are they in the right?

    Hello o:

Yes. But, if he rented it for the 20th, you're entitled to 10 days back, assuming you had a deposit equal to one months rent. He can't collect from you AND the new tenant.
