Occupant lived in home for 3 months promising to pay rent and then bailed out.
What is the best process for suing an old occupant for 3 months ($3900) of unpaid rent in Sacramento, California? If occupant was named on the lease as girlfriend living with BF(primary renter), do we have any luck of suing her for unpaid rent as she remained living in home with agreement to pay for the rent after her and BF broke up. Ex- BF is incarcerated. Occupant moved out and left holes in wall. She is not returning phone calls to collect unpaid rent. How do you sue someone if there is no known address. We are amateur landlords and should have been more choosy with the renter.

You can't sue if you can't serve notice of suit. If you want to recover this money you may need to hire a PI to find her.
