Moved from Adoption

In most states, your BOYFRIEND can't. Your husband can, but forget having a boyfriend adopt.

If you're in one of those states that does allow a long term (read that as something like 5 years, not 5 months) boyfriend to adopt, then you need to get the biological father to relinquish parental rights through the court, then legally go through the adoption process.

I highly recommend getting a lawyer.

For OP's benefit, there is an option she may wish to consider. It isn't used very much any more, so she may never have heard of it. It's called "marriage".
