    Light switch will not turn off light fixture?
    I have a black and red wire and two white wires that are capped,and from the ceiling I have a white wire and a black and a ground?on the lifht switch I have the black wire hooked to the top screw and the black wire hooked up to the bottom,now when I hook up a light fixture the switch will not turn light on or off?

    First you need to determine what wire is carrying the current. Connect a VOM probe to the neutral and then touch the black or red to find what is hot. Then find out what wire runs from the light to the box. These are the wires you need on the switch. With a red and black you possibly have a 3 way switch. You might have a switch loop and have bypassed the switch somehow.
