I came to US a month ago on H1B and got my SSN

Now we need an ITIN for my wife who is on H4 to get Health Insurance Coverage

I will file my taxes after in Jan 2011. So how to ITIN for my wife without tax return form. Please advice

You will submit Form W-7 WITH your tax return to get your wife her ITIN. This applies ONLY IF you file under the MARRIED FILING JOINT Option of First Year Choice, which will require you wait until 1 June 2011 to file.

Now, if you get a letter from the health insurance company stating that she needs the ITIN in order to get health coverage, you can submit the Form W-7 with the letter and a notarized photocopy of her passport THIS month to get the ITIN before filing.
