    Hair colouring disaster
    Hi All

    I really need some help.
I am a natural blonde, but for the past 3 years have dyed it brown... for a change, I decided to go back to blonde.
I prelightened my hair, and put a semi permanent dye on, but was left with a ginger at the ends, so I redid another semi permanent and although a little ginger, it looked better.
I went to see my sister, who is a trainee hairdresser, and stupidly allowed her to prelighten it again, as she swears by it (her words not mine).
I am now left with white roots, where the re growth was, and bright orange from about an inch down.
I ca not afford to go to a salon, as I am broke.. and prob will be for a month.
What can I do to get my hair back to a decent colour.
Please please help me, I have been crying since she did it yesterday and have been hiding behind a hat.

    Many Thanks

    Colleen

In order to go blonde, you must pre-lighten your hair to a yellow level and then apply the desired color, which would be a blonde color. Your sister should not have bleached the top of your hair pass the yellow level because it could damage your hair or cause it to fall out. If the top is white and the rest of your hair is a different color, you will need to have an even base before applying the selected color. I know you don't want to go to the salon, but you should definitely consider letting a professional do your hair. If you can't make it to the salon, ask someone that is experienced in hair coloring to help you correct the color.

I just went through the same problem! I went through a stage where I wanted black hair, but my blonde kept coming through in regrowth, which made me feel very self conscieous. So I went out and brought a four shade blonde Lighteneing dye $10.00 from my local chemist and put that in. And it turned out exactly the way yours did: white roots, where the re growth was, and bright orange from about an inch down, although the rest was a auburn colour. I was devastated but went out and bought a $8.00 permanent colour dye (I can't afford a salon either) and put that in. It turned out really good! And I was pleasantly surprised. However the roots are still a slightly lighter colour then the rest of my hair but its not as noticeable and not at all as bad. And if its pulled back it looks a lot like foils... Its awesome.
Lol I don't think that was very helpful, but I hope you can fix up your problem!
