Toilet noise, loud vibrating humming sound
Happening for about a month now. Loud vibrating noise when the tank is filled. The sound is so loud it vibrates the entire house at times. House is approx 90 yrs, wartime bungalow. Toilet has been replaced at least once to our knowledge before we bought it. We've had it for approx 16 yrs now.

If the tank is being filled with a 3/8" plastic riser coming from the water valve try and replace it with the stainless braided kind. This happened to me once and I was advised to change it. It worked for me. However, my whole house did not vibrate?? It was just very loud when refilling the tank after flushing.

    Hope this helps you

Toilet noise is caused by a loose washer in the angle valve, or in the ballcock.
Next time the noise starts, back off the angle stop located under the tank counter clockwise until the noise stops if it does problem is in your angle valve washer at the stem, Remove the stem tighten the screw or replace the washer, if the noise is still there problem is with your ballcock, remove the screw on top of the ballcock and pull up the float ball, rod and plunger assembly. Pry out the rubber washer and turn it over. Before you reassemble the ball cock put something over the open ballcock and turns the water on for a few seconds to flush out the supply line. Reassemble and test you need to remove the screws on top of the fill valve, good luck.
