We've been together almost 2 years, we don't live together and we both have children. I love her and we have good times but our future is up in the air. She is 31, college educated, intelligent and I think she is beautiful. I'm 43, my sons are 13 and 10. Her son is 3. Everyone gets along. She works about 80 hours a month and is on welfare. We flirted with marriage and living together but she likes living out in the sticks with her friends and family. My life is in town, I work at least 50-60 hours a week and am not looking to add 20 hours a week to my commute. She claims that she does not want to work more because she does not want her son in daycare any more than he is now but I don't buy it especially since she compalins about how much I work and often tries to get me to call off sick. I think she just does not want to work because she really does not have to.

Her little boy is pretty young. She might want to be a stay-at-home mom during his formative years. Is she a good mom in that she reads to him and plays with him and sings to him and bakes cookies with his "help"? Or does she plop him in front of the TV and spend her day texting and doing her nails?

Great questions. She is a good mom and she does all those things. Her boy is a serious handful and she's not so well equipped to support him. He will run into traffic and hit and spit people. Entirely different post I know. She does her best.

I'm guessing she's doing her best by her son by staying home with him as much as she can. I do hope she's bringing in professionals to help her deal with his behavior problems. (There's lots of low-cost and even free help out there.) She may get pretty lonely for adult male conversation, and so wants you around more -- although you did say she lives near her family. You are a "fresh face," though, and probably have some wisdom and intelligence she gets hungry for.
