What if you've had unprotected sex for seven months?
I have been having unprotected sex for seven months now and I've been having my regular periods each month although the dates change when I have sex. But I'm concerned as I have been having unprotected sex for a long time now and nothings happened. Could anyone give me any advice on what they think I should do. I'm really scared in case I can't have children. I keep needing to pee a lot as well lately could that be something t do with me having unprotected sex or something totally different?

It takes the average couple up to a year, often more, to conceive once actively trying. It took 7 months for me to conceive my son, and 10 months with my daughter, and we were actively trying, charting ovulation and everything.

Are you just having unprotected sex hoping that you have sex on the right day and you'll get pregnant?

If after 2 years of trying, and by trying I mean charting when you ovulate, having sex during the prime times that you could conceive, than you can start to worry. Until then, there's nothing unnatural with the situation you describe.

There are many reasons you could be urinating more frequently. Yes, frequent urination is a sign of pregnancy, but it's also a sign of a bladder infection or other various infections. It's best to see your doctor to find out what's going on, mention that you've been having unprotected sex, your doctor will also do a pregnancy test just to rule that out.

    Good luck.

Thanks for answering, yes that's what I was hoping for. But I've now got a ovulation chart, and I'm going to see how it goes. I just thought that once you had unprotected sex and the man ejaculates in you then there was a chance of you getting pregnant. Cause I tried before my period, after my period and on the last day of my period and still nothing. Yep will go to my gp and get a check up.

There is a chance, but it is a small chance. It is roughly about 20-25% in any given cycle that you will conceive. This is because you have such a small window of time each cycle for conception to occur.

Generally ovulation will occur about 12-16 days before the next period is due, although this can vary a bit for individual women. Having sex a few times in the few days leading up to suspected ovulation give the best odds as sperm can survive a few days in the conditions just prior to ovulation, otherwise they die off quickly. However, timing is just one factor in the process.

Some women will become pregnant the first time they have sex... but as Alty said, for many others it takes quite a bit of time and planning.

Try not to worry just yet. Give the ovulation chart a try, following directions for it exactly (it can take a few months to see a pattern) and see how it goes.

Fingers crossed it won't take too much longer for you!
