What's the main reason married partners cheat?

What's the purpose of married woman cheating on their husbands.

Some people are not content with just one sex partner. Other people are unhappy. Other people like to be promiscuous. There are probably a zillion reasons people cheat when married. Pick one.

Same reason married MEN cheat.

Usually, only one married partner cheats at a time. Can't say I've ever heard of too many married couples who were cheating on each other, simutaneously.

Whether it is a husband cheating, or a wife cheating, doesn't matter.

What matters is that the one who is cheating, chose to do so. Made a decision to be involved with another man or woman, and physically took the steps, psychologically, emotionally, and physically, to break the vow of fidelity.

Why is anybody's guess, but it is usually something the cheating partner regrets. Somehow the consequences don't seem so bad, until you are caught.

Maybe it is because of opportunity. Maybe it was hard to walk away from a woman who just propositioned a lonely sailor in a port of call who just returned from six months at sea.

Maybe it is justified because the cheating partner likes 75% of their marriage, but the 25% justifies cheating, because they are 'negected' or 'taken for granted' or what have you.

Maybe one partner cheats because of the human need for companionship. Maybe the marriage was over 25 years ago, and it's just nice to have somebody in their life that actually listens, enjoys their company, and has no expectations of them.

Cheating comes in many forms from sexting to backseats behind McDonald's to secret rendezvous while out of town on 'business'.
