My cat sat on my laptop and now my mousepad and mousepad's left key are locked...
Hi all, my cat sat on my laptop and now my left click mouse button does not work at all, and I cannot tap the mousepad to double click. An external mouse works but I really don't want to have to get one because I have a painful right shoulder and using an exernal mouse it exacerbates it (I am right handed).

    So far I have tried:
    -updating the driver
    -checking accessability options
-looking at the properties of the synaptics pointing device

None of this has wroked... please help as I need my lap top to do my job and run my website : (

Thanks in advance for any advice. I am using a Compaq Presario, using Windows Vista Home Basic.

I'm assuming that you are currently using a laptop. In that case, have you tried removing Touchpad from Device Manager? Windows should re-install in when it reboots. If you are unsure on how to get to Device Manager, enter devmgmt.msc into Start -> run. This the only way I know how to fix it, so I hope this works.
