Bought a new vanity with drawers on the bottom and the drain pipe into the wall is too low to match up to the end of the p-trap.
Then you must get a drain extension to lower the trap. I am guessing by your info the drawers may be in the way, right? Have you installed the vanity yet?
No I didn't because I knew I may have to do some more work to the pipes behind the sheetrock
So will adding a longer drain tube straight dow so the trap matches the wall cause an issue with that drawer?
Hi,
I am assuming u have a 1 1/2" p-trap? What u have to do is buy an extension tailpiece that attaches to the inlet of trap so u could drop it to the height of drain.
Or open wall and raise the santee.
Don't assume anything with plumbing, a bathroom vanity has a 1 1/4" drain and trap. We are still waiting to hear if the drain extension will interfere with the drawer, I think it will.
Hi all...
Answer Ballengerb1's question, please.
I agree, as Ballengerb1 said, "Then you must get a drain extension to lower the trap."
Argaiu1017 then said, "what u have to do is buy an extension tailpiece"...
Clearly, if the issue is only drain height, the best bet is to purchase an extension tailpiece... see images (metal or plastic)... :)
They even make FLEXIBLE extension tailpieces (see bottom image)!
You'll either need an 1-1/2" extension tailpiece with an 1-1/2"x1/1/4" nut and washer or you'll need an 1.25" extension tailpiece. Here, as Ballengerb1 pointed out, the pop-up assembly that came with the faucet will be 1.25"... your PTRAP is 1.25" or 1-1/2"... just need to adapt to one or the other... hope that makes sense?
Otherwise, let us know more, OK?
Mark
Standard rough in for lav is 1 1/2" trap and decrease to 1 1/4" to pop up. Yes 1 1/4" is minimum on a lav according to code because it is a 1 fixture unit fixture.
That's true if you're dealing with PVC or ABS but if you're coming off cast iron the trap will be 1 1/4 inch chrome.Quote:

Here's another tail piece extension, (see image) Good luck, Tom
