Thoughts on being individual families after death
I just wanted to ask a question that was asked at bible study. Would like to see what everyone thoughs are:

The quesiton: We have heard that you see your loved ones, perhaps at time of death to help us on our path. However once we are in heaven will there still be a family unit, were you know each other. Also part of this question was after Jesus defeats the Devil and puts him into lake of fire. Are we then also considered individual families. We thought it was good question, and had some different answers, just thought I would share--thank you in advance.

I don't believe what is promised, but would like to think that after death I will see all of my loved ones, family or not, all pets gathering around as soon as I come through the light. Who knows what will happen at that last breath. I know for sure I will have regrets, regret at leaving my son behind to mourn my passing, we are very close. He and I kid about that a bit, and I think that is a good thing, but I know he will be devastated knowing he will never be able to see me again.

I agree Tick, I will miss my children. But once in heaven, will all of us know each other as actual family members. Will we still have those individual family units, mother, father, children. Will we live together as a family, like husband and wife, etc.

Luvvy, I would like to hope so; vacations with my parents were so much fun. I would like it to be a repeat of all that history within the family.

I can't say yes... who knows. It is an impossible question, answerme.

    Lots of hugs

It really is a good question. Unfortunately, there's no answer. The Bible never addresses it, so we can only speculate. I prefer not to.

It is correct that the Bible does not address this issue specifically.

My opinion is based on both my personal thoughts, and the teaching of my faith group:

There is no reason to think that after we die, our memory will be erased. The body of Christ is those that are still living and those that have "received their reward". We can presume that those who die on earth will still remember us... and we remember them: I presume that they are still praying for us.

And I presume that when we are together again, we'll still remember each other... but I also presume that being with Christ fully (aka "Heaven") there will be something different than the "family unit(s)" that we know of here on earth.

That is the short version of what I believe based on Scripture and the historic Christian faith.

We do get insight from the bible into what happens to married ones who die and get a resurrection.

After Jesus was questioned by the Sadducees (who did not believe in the resurrection) as to which husband out of seven a wife would gain after being resurrected, he stated in Luke 20:34 “The children of this system of things marry and are given in marriage, 35 but those who have been counted worthy of gaining that system of things and the resurrection from the dead neither marry nor are given in marriage. 36 In fact, neither can they die anymore, for they are like the angels, and they are God's children by being children of the resurrection."

So she would not marry any of them. They will be too busy feeling overjoyed and ecstatic that they can serve God forever in peace as a united family, rather than be disappointed they haven't been reunited with their spouse. New memories will be built and will then last forever!
