I am on section 8 my landlord forced me to pay him side payments
I went to a lawyer and lawyer said go to small claims court. I would like to know why was I told to go to a lawyer to collect triple damages if it isn't true.
My landlord put me through hell (im Moving now) I don't feel he should get away with it.
Does anyone know how I should go about getting a lawyer that will help instead of telling me to go to smalls claim court

Small claims court is where you make your lousy landlord PAY for screwing you over. If the lawyer said you can get triple damages, I'd believe him. But, you don't need a lawyer in small claims court. It's quick, cheap and easy.

There's no other place for you to go to get satisfaction... Once you win a judgment, you could certainly send a copy to the Section 8 people. He'll NEVER get another Section 8 tenant again. Will that make you feel better?
