Installed new bathtub valve stems now "no cold water"
I have just replaced both hot and cold valve stems in bathtub. I did them exactly the same and now I can't get the cold water to come out. What can I try to do to fix this problem. Someone said I should have the valve open when installing? I am desperate and exhausted please help!! :(

The first thing I would would be to shut the water off and remove the cold water stem and washer assembly. Now turn the water back on to see if the problem isn't in the supply line. Is there a strong stream coming out of the open valve body? Get back to me and let me know. Regards, tom

If I go back and take the valve stem out and cut the water on won't a lot of water come out? Before I installed new valve stem there was no problem with the water. I had to replace the hot so I replaced both with new.

"If I go back and take the valve stem out and cut the water on wont alot of water come out?"
That's the idea! You're trying to isolate the problem. Where are you losing pressure? In the valve or in the supply? Until you can pinpoint that you can not proceed. Do it and let me know. Tom

Ahhh Haaaa... I fixed it!! I did what you said, and no water. It just so happens that in the line was a tiny piece of rubber from the old stem that I didn't notice. It was just snug up in the line and I thought it belonged there. So I figured why not pick that out and reinstall the valve stem... Whada you know I got me some water!! Thanks a Bunch for answering me back. I will be sure to keep this site in mind should I ever have anymore problems.:) :) :)
