Last night as I was watching my fav, Bill O'Reilly, he asked about the blue states, where I live. He wondered WHY they don't get what the rest of the country wants...

It got me to thinking why the rest of the country DOESN'T get what I want? After all, I'm on the correct side of EVERYTHING. Why wouldn't I want to be on that side?

My first political memory was my grandma telling me about Elenore Roosevelt.. She told me that Mrs. Roosevelt was visiting an air base and wanted to ride in a P-51 Mustang. The Tuskeegee Airmen, were the ONLY black squadron of pilots in the US at that time, and they were stationed at that base. When offered a WHITE pilot, Mrs. Roosevelt said she wanted one of the black ones... Why wouldn't I want to be on that side?

I joined the Navy. My Commander in Chief was John F. Kennedy. My ship was blockading Cuba. If he made the WRONG decision, I (and you too most likely) would be toast. He also inspired me by asking, "not what my country could do for me, but what I could do for my country". Why wouldn't I want to be on that side?

I went to Vietnam. I came back BELIEVING what my government told me. I find out they lied. Why wouldn't I want to be on the side that told me the truth?

LBJ ended segregation. Why wouldn't I want to be on that side? Liberals supported the Equal Rights Act that liberated women. Why wouldn't I want to be on that side? In 1965, liberals passed medicare which ended the misery virtually ALL of our older folks endured. Why wouldn't I want to be on that side?

Liberals are STILL trying to protect the most vulnerable amongst us. Why wouldn't I want to be on that side? Why wouldn't you?

Here's what going to happen to your nice thread: the conservatives here are going to write all they can about why liberals are evil and bad, nary a word about what good things the conservatives have done.

I thought you could read between the lines? I'm not the one making it about race, we've moved on. We believe in personal accountability, helping others personally and helping others help themselves. The States on the coast are hopelessly bankrupt with their bloated welfare states . They just elected people who's philosophies are for more of the same failed policies. Their friends in Washington will eventually concoct a plan for the more fiscally responsible states to bail out the coastal states.
It really blows my mind that the people of California voted in the same clown who is most responsible for the mess they are in today. What was his rational for running this time ? He had the onions to tell the people that since he broke the state he is best equipt to save the state... and they believed him!!

Your state isn't as bad yet. At least when it came to a vote ,the people there understood the futility of passing soak the rich schemes. The truth is ,most of the hopelessly libs are in the Puget Sound area . Most of the rest of your state is in the frontier past the Cascade Ridge. You really need to get rid of that very suspicious vote by mail only nonsense .

No you didn't. We can't make the assumption that because you are calling out the supposed "wrongs" that you think the other side is doing we should assume that you are doing the opposite "right". Instead of talking about the other side all the time why don't you point out the facts and figures on the positives that your side is doing. For a smart guy you can't seem to figure much out. What I said in all of that is this, the right has put their money where the left's mouth is.

The nuances went right over yours and NK's as well, which was my point to him. She indeed made a historical statement about race, and the fact that so many of us - Republicans in particular - aren't looking at the color of his skin but just want to know if he can fly the damn plane is just as historic. That is what post-racial America looks like and I like it, but the left won't let it be... they still make it about race.

It is insulting to imply that conservatives are not into racial justice. I would suggest that the divide between the forces lining up between the selection of Clyburn and Hoyer for minority whip prove the Dems are not as post racial as they'd like to believe.

I have to ask since we are twisting history. Why is it that the democrats seem to want to co opt all the good things when it flies in opposition of the truth. It was a democrat that got us in vietnam and a republican that got us out of it. It was the democrats that wanted to keep blacks oppressed and it was republicans that set them free. How twisted can your history get when you feel your side is the only one making progress. When in fact it takes more then speech sometimes to prove yourself.
