What is the exterior attic pipe for?
I live in Memphis and all the homes have a metal pipe coming out one end of the attic. My pipe is now really dripping a lot of water into my carport. Where does this water come from? What kind of a problem does it indicate?

Is the heater or hot water heater up there? They usually put a drip line on so you can see it leaking as is apparently the case. T&P valve on Hot water heater, bad hot water heater, dripping condensate line from a high efficiency heater, If it's a lot of water, I'd suspect water heater but in the attic?
