I have a Kenmore washing machine model 110.8244110. I had a heavy load of rugs that left pieces of rug in washer and was off balance. There was a slight smell of something burning but that is gone. Now it doesn't drain completely. It is about 1/3 filled w/ soapy water. Since then I have to manipulate it to spin and drain but then most of the time the water comes back in. It comes out of the hose slowly. It doesn't go through the rinse cycle and when I am able to manipulate it to spin it's not powerful enough. I have to do this several times and then the clothes at the bottom are still very wet. I'm low on cash and want to try to fix myself. I am not afraid to try since purchasing a new one is not possible yet. Is it something I might be able to do myself? I have never worked on a washer before but have replaced a timer on my dryer w/ no assistance from anyone by removing the part from another one someone was throwing out. I was very proud of myself and hope I can do it again, but don't know where to start. Can you assist me?

Pretty tough job to repair a washer w/o training, but heck what can you loose except the washer. Here's what I would do, (This is either a stackable combo washer and dryer or a front loader isn't it ? I used to sell washer's for a Sears dealer about 6 yrs ago and the model number rings a bell. Anyway, cheap an easy to take out the heavy items, drain the soapy water by placing one end of a garden hose in the bottom of the tub, creating a flow out by suction, letting it drain the tub, then ck to see if the drain hose out the back is clear of any obstructions, also see if the water outlet ( where the water drains outside your home or apt ) is not backed up. Hope this helps.

No it's a top loader and I think it may be old but not sure how old. I bought a condo which is really more like an apartment about 3 1/2 years ago and it came w/ it. I'm on the 3rd floor and when I pull the hose out of the drain pipe (while manipulating it to spin) I can see the water comes out of the washer slowly. After manipulation I am able to get the water drained but it took some work. There is no clog in the drainpipe but maybe in the washer somewhere. It's in a confined area and tough to pull out enough to get behind it, so I'm not even sure it's worth it but I'm trying to get some advise to give me courage to make it worth my while. Thanks for the advise anyway and taking the time to read and answer. I do appreciate it.
