Had a payday loan back in 2002 and now they are trying to charge me for check fraud. Can the do that? Statue of limintation is I believe 6 years. Am I correct?

Statute of limitations varies from state to state; however check fraud trumps statute of limitations in some states as well. Check fraud is an illegal offence. What state you living in ?

I don't know what state you live in, but six years is beyond any that I've heard of. But, you just can't ignore it. You have to answer the complaint.

Even if something is out of the SOL, that does not mean you don't still owe the debt, and it does not mean that they can not do anything legal to attempt collection.

But some collection people, like to cross the line and make threats and other problems in attempts to collect.
