    Dying medium brown hair red?
I need some advice, I am wanting to dye my already colored medium brown hair a medium dark red color (more like red with a few purply hints). I also have some real hair extensions that match my current hair color and I am wanting to dye them too. Being a student money is short so I didn't know whether to just dye them both myself using a home kit, or get my hair done at the hair dressers and try match the extensions using a home kit. Preferably I would rather be able to do them both myself but I'm worried about what dye to use and color. I also have root growth at the moment which is a mousy brown color, I don't want the top to go a different color to the bottom. Can any body give me some suggestions please? X

You may not like what I have to say, but I truly believe it is the only way to get the best result without making a major headache for yourself. Go see a professional for both! I know you said money is tight, so perhaps you can look for a beauty school in your area. The students are overseen by professional, licensed hair stylists who check their work. And you will pay MUCH less than a regular salon. And you never know... you may find a great student who is nearing his or hear graduation who would love to keep you as a client. You can build a relationship with a newer stylist who will have lower rates than someone more experienced so that while you are still at the beginning of your career, you can still afford a professional.
