For what I found out is as long as I have the right age to have intercourse with my partner is okay for me to date older guys. What I research is right?

What on earth would you have in common with older guys except sex? You would be in two totally different life phases.

Yes at 16 you may consent to have sex with a pediphile if you wish.

Of course if you are trying to date him and your parents do not approve there are other laws other than age to have sex that can be used against him

You have to read Iowa law carefully here. First there is no law covering dating. The laws refer to sexual activity. But the law (Section 709) has some contradictions. It prohibits sexual activity between an adult and a child. But no where does it explicitly define a child. It does identify certain levels of sex abuse and specifies the those levels apply to children under 16.

But the Federal definition of a child is under 18. And it does specify that an adult more than 5 years older than a child can be held guilty of violating the law.

As Chuck said there are also other laws about parental interference that can be applied.

But beyond the legal issues any 24 yr old man who even thinks of having sex with a 16 yr old has some serious problems and should be avoided. I'll go further and say any 24 yr old who enters into a romantic relationship with a 16 yr old has serious issues.

What do your parents think of this relationship? Do they even know about it? How long has he been your "boyfriend"? How did you come to date him?

I been with him a year and yes my parents know his age. And they accepted him.

So this was a 23 yr old who started dating a 15 yr old? And your parents agreed to this? I find that very hard to believe or accept. A man like that needs to be avoided.
