Well, I think it's a well pump it could be a circ pump... it is a pump that typically comes on when you shower or flush a tiolet just to rebuild pressure, so I guess I don't know exactly what it is...

You have a well pump that sounds like it might have a faulty check/foot valve allowing the pump to pump to pressure and then the gage falls and the pump starts up again. Does that sound like what's happening? How long can you run the water before the pump kicks in? Back to you, Tom

Sounds like pressure booster system. If pump runs all the time, you may have problem with pressure switch setting or the switch. Pressure boosters systems only run to maintain pres set point. Better call for service. Should be low cost. Repair.

Pressure booster systems have a bladder or air tank with a control that will fire the booster pump when the level gets bolow a certain point. Seen'em in apartment buildings in Chicago.

    Hey Trisha,
Let's put this booster pump to bed. How many pumps do you have?

But those booster pumps were on as high raise to bring pressure to the upper floors. Trisha lives in a single family home with a surface pump. So where do you figure she would ever need a booster pump?
Trisha- What have you done so far to correct the problem? Back to you, Tom
