I just received a civil action hearing notice regarding a debt owed to Midland Funding LLC in the amount of 4,000 dollars. I know I have a debt to GE money - but I didn't think it was that much. I'm 22 years old. I've been involved in anything like this. I just can't pay this debt back because I pay student loans. Should I present a defense? What is going to happen at the hearing. I'm super confused and scared.

I would imagine that Midland Funding are the people who bought the debt from GE Money. They don't care that you cant, you have to attend the hearing, or a judgment will be awarded in your absence and they will in fact have a right to garnish your bank account.

Unfortunately the debt appears more because they have added interest to the original amount and will keep on adding until a settlement is reached.
