Gauges acting crazy on 97 civic
I have a 1997 Honda civic and I went to drive it today and noticed my check engine ligh was on and even though I was parked my spedometer and odometer was reading 120 mph and miles were increasing?? Could this be a bad battery issue? Oh, I live in Alaska.

Attach a code reader to the data link connector, located under the dash. A code may have been thrown, indicating that there's a problem with the Variable Speed Sensor (VSS). It's always a good idea to remove and fully charge the battery, prior to diagnosing electrical problems.
