Ill be 36 weeks pregnant on Monday and yesterday at my doctors appoitnment she said that I was about 30% effaced and 1 centimeter dilated ! I want to have an idea of how long I could be 1 centimeter dilated for ? Or is there no really way to tell ? And how long can I be 30% effaced for ? But when I went to the ER a couple weeks ago they said that I was 1/2 centimeter dilated and 40% effaced ! So where should I go about that and what to follow?

Unfortunately it doesn't mean a great deal as you could very well walk around even a few centimeters dilated the last few weeks of pregnancy.

Some women will have no signs of the cervix preparing and go into labour 3 days later. Other women will have gradual changes taking place for several weeks.

You are at that stage where it could be next week, it could be when you are 41 weeks.

Try your best to not worry and enjoy the last weeks of your pregnancy. Find ways to pamper yourself... spend time with family and friends.
