I Don't think buying a house interfers with having a bad leasing credit

    Hello Larrivee:

I don't know what state you're in, but lots have a 3 year statute of limitations on lawsuits. If you live in one of those, they can't sue you. Find out if you are, and write them a letter telling them so.

This post goes DIRECTLY to prior discussion on landlords placing negative items on tenant's credit report.

Pay the $200. It is not enough to fight about and may hold up your closing on your home long enough for you to loose any mortgage loan commitment.

The first thing is you delay. Send them a letter asking for a detailed explanation of what you owe and why. This really shouldn't interfere with your home purchase unless you have not gotten a mortgage commitment yet. If you have, then your closing should be fairly imminent so there shouldn't be a problem.

Some clarification is also needed. Do I understand that you gave notice after less than one month? How much notice did you give? When EXACTLY did you move in and move out? How long was your lease? When the apt rented again?
