How can we find someone with an unwanted pregnancy, willing to place for adoption?
We're longing to adopt. Can you please suggest how we can find someone with an unwanted pregnancy, willing to place for adoption? It seems very difficult to find someone without going through an agency. Adoption agencies charge $30-40K just because of the shortage of babies! These fees are unaffordable.
We have tried lots of avenues to find a birth-mom. Pregnancy Counseling centers often refer to adoption agencies only. We put our profile up on the internet (http://longingtoadopt.com) and got one email from a woman who apparently changed her mind and did not meet us.
I even put a sticker up in my car window telling people we're longing to adopt.
We even became licensed foster parents, and looked after two infants for a while, but adoption through that route is very difficult - most likely, the child will be given back to its parents or relatives.
    Any suggestions appreciated.

Do you belong to a church? Maybe letting your pastor or priest or whoever you have know your desire to adopt will help. I imagine at least some women talk to their religious leaders about unplanned pregnancies. Keep in mind though, you'll still have to have legal fees somewhere along the way if you do find a child to adopt. It's a complicated process that's best done with a lawyer.

I read something recently that indicates that this is a myth. The adoption fees are not because there is a shortage of babies.

I'm curious. Have you spoken to anyone in an agency to see what they have to say? Things may not be as difficult or expensive as you've heard.

We have spoken to several agencies!
The agency we are talking to charges $23K to match you with the birthmom. Of course it is spread under different headings. But these charges are typical.

Certainly we want to do it legally. We have told our church pastors - but they don't know of anyone.
